About Me

The Full Story

Photo of me.PNG

Hey everyone! My name is Rhania Kamel and I recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from Seton Hall University's class of 2020. Before graduating, I served as the News Copy Editor for the University's student-run newspaper, The Setonian. I was also a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the Communications Honor Society and the secretary of Seton Hall's chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

My most recent internship was with NBCU where I worked as an editorial intern at Today.com. At my internship I gained invaluable experience learning skills essential to both the editorial side of the company and the on-air production side. I also gained experience with remote working and covering beats like the coronavirus.

I am currently part of NBC's News Associate program, a prestigious rotational program, that I am very excited to be a part of. I recently worked on the Rachel Maddow Show and am currently at The Today Show with their Crash Research Team

I have been passionate about writing from a young age and decided to make a career out of it. I have always been fascinated with the concept of internalizing and sharing news with others, and hope to dedicate my career to a constant pursuit of the truth. I am always on the lookout for new opportunities to grow and develop as a member of the media.

On this website, I have added the articles that I have written for TODAY.comThe Setonian, The Odyssey and CNBC. I look forward to writing more and learning more in this ever-changing field. Please take a look around my site and let me know what you think. Stay curious and never stop striving for the truth.

In my spare time, I enjoy travelling and visiting new places with my friends and family. I think that cultural immersion is important and have enjoyed visiting different places and cultivating my language skills. I not only enjoying meeting new people and understand their perspectives, I enjoy developing my multi-lingual abilities; currently I am fluent in English and conversational in Arabic and French. Above are a few photos from some of the trips I have taken during my life as well as photos of the inductions of the various organizations I participate in. I also included one of my favorite photos from the open house I worked at as a tour guide and a photo of me and Bob Woodward.

In addition to my experience as a journalist, I worked as an officer of undergraduate admission at Seton Hall giving tours to prospective students and their parents.

As an officer of undergraduate admissions I cultivated my public speaking skills while working as a tour guide and co-presenter of all that my university has to offer prospective students.

I have also worked at my university's Writing Center as a peer tutor. As a peer tutor, I helped students review their essays and writing assignments for grammatical errors, structure, flow, ideas and adherence to various methods including but not limited to, AP style, APA, MLA and Chicago.

At my university, I also served as the secretary for Seton Hall's chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars where I further enhance and broaden the scopes of my writing abilities. As secretary, I wrote down meeting minutes and facilitated communication between the e-board and inducted members, the e-board and prospective members and the e-board and other organizations and entities that we could possibly work with on charity and volunteer events

I was also a member of Seton Hall's chapter of Lambda Pi Eta. A few of my peers and I, along with our adviser have also helped found a Seton Hall chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, where I served as the chapter's first secretary.

I was also named the Raymod Peter Lukshis Scholarship recipient for the 2019-2020 school year. For the amount of $5,000, it is awarded to one junior yearly who is majoring in Communication or Media Arts on the basis of academic excellence, leadership and financial need.

Upon graduating, my cumulative GPA was 3.98 securing the status of Summa Cum Laude within Seton Hall's College of Communication and the Arts, a feat that I am extremely proud of and worked extremely hard for to achieve while balancing an internship, on-campus job, my courses and my extracurricular involvement and leadership.

I also volunteered at my middle school, St. Aloysius Academy in Jersey City, NJ by helping out with their newspaper club. I assist the club advisers by writing articles, editing the work of the student reporters and putting together and organizing the layout for the monthly publication.
